Authors are persons creating works. All architects, painters, composers, photographers, and other artists are authors of their works.
Copyright guarantees certain exclusive rights to the authors.
Having exclusive rights denotes there are certain actions concerning the work only the author is authorized to take. In some cases, the author has the right for benefit instead of copyright. In such cases, the author receives benefits for the usage of his/her work but he/she does not have the right to prevent the usage. Both exclusive rights and right for benefit for usage of the work aim to compensate the author’s creativity, investments and labour, and to encourage creating new works.
