A senior architect is an architect of a retirement age regardless whether he/she has retired or continues practicing. As of January 20th, 2010 there are 372 members in the UEA, among them 135 senior architects.
The section of senior architects was established on March 5th, 1998, when the executive board of the UEA approved the statutes draft and Kalle Vellevoog, then the chairman of the UEA, approved the statutes.
On March 2nd, 2010 an amendment was made to the statutes of the section. According to the updated statutes of the UEA, instead of the three-member board, the next section board will comprise of five members.
On April 6th, 2010 a new section board was elected unanimously for the years 2010 – 2012. According to the statutes of the UEA, the head of the section is also a member of the executive board of the UEA.
